ディスクトップＰＣ（金谷紘二）
我が家には私が毎日使っているディスクトップＰＣがある。これは、２０１５年６月に購入したＤＥＬＬ製のＰＣである。当時、約７万円で購入したメーカー製の新品であった。それの動きが最近鈍くなり、またウインドウズが古いWindows８で、新しいソフトの受け入れが難しくなってきた。思い切ってこれを廃棄して、新しくＰＣを買うことにした。
今、デルの正規の本体だけのディスクトップＰＣを買うとすれば、１５万円はするであろう。私にはこれからどれくらいの期間、ＰＣを使うかわからないし、このような高価なＰＣは買えない。ネットでいろいろ調べると、新品でないＰＣが多く出されていた。購入したのは、「デルディスクトップＰＣ」という商品名で、販売者は国内の「ワジュンＰＣ」という会社である。この会社は、中古のデルＰＣを買い取って、「デルディスクトップＰＣ３０４０」という名称でアマゾンから販売している。コンディションは新品と書いており、「整備済み品」としている。値段は３万円であった。
これを今年の８月７日から使用しているが、問題なく使用できている。今まで使っていたソフト、ジャストのホームページビルダー、メールソフト、写真ソフトなどをこのＰＣにインストールして使用している。私は、ひまなときはゲームをしている。カードゲームのソリティア「フリーセル」と、麻雀ゲームの「上海」だけである。上海は、以前ＣＤで買っていたものをこのＰＣにインストールして利用している。前のＰＣは動きが遅かったが、今度のＰＣは動きが速いので快適である。これだけでも３万円の価値があると、私は喜んでいる。
ＪＵＳＴのホームページビルダー（ｈｐｂ）は、ソフトのＣＤ版として、ｈｐｂ2000を持っていたので、それを新しいＰＣに入れて使ってみた。このソフトは使いにくい。ネットで調べて、「ｈｐｂ２２体験版」が３０日間無料で使えるのを知って、それをダウンロードして使ってみた。この新しいｈｐｂは使いやすい。このソフトをＣＤで買うと２万円するし、ソフトのダウンロード版であれば、１万円という値段である。ダウンロード版を購入しようかと思っていた。
私はソフトのＣＤ版をいろいろ持っている。これらのＣＤを調べていると、「ｈｐｂ１７」と「ｈｐｂ２０」というＣＤが我が家にあることが分かった。早速、ｈｐｂ２０をＰＣにインストールした。書きかけのホームページの内容はＳＤカードにコピーして、そのコピーを新しいＰＣにインストールした。このｈｐｂ２０は、体験版のｈｐｂ２２と同じ内容のソフトであった。体験版は不要になったので、ＰＣから削除した。
メールソフトは以前からサンダーバードというソフトを使っていたので、そのソフトを新しいＰＣに入れて使っている。このソフトの使用料は無料であり、ボランティアの人たちが維持しているようである。時折、寄付の依頼がＰＣ上に表示されており、私は数年前１５００円を寄付した。しばらくしてまた寄付をしようかと思っている。
写真ソフトは、マイクロソフトがサービスで入れている「フォト」とか「ペイント」を使うか、あるいはDropboxでも使ってもよい。後者は２ＧＢなら無料で使える。これは写真の加工、サイズダウンなどにも使えて便利である。以前はアドべのフォートショップを有料で使っていたが、止めてしまった。

Desktop PC
There is a desktop PC that I use every day at home. It is a Dell PC that I bought in June 2015. At the time, it was a new product from the manufacturer that I bought for about 70,000 yen. It has recently become slow, and the Windows version is still the old Windows 8, so it is difficult to accept new software. I decided to throw it away and buy a new PC.
If I were to buy a genuine Dell desktop PC with just the main unit now, it would cost 150,000 yen. I don't know how long I will be using my PC, so I cannot afford such an expensive PC. When I looked online, I found that many PCs were not new. The product I bought was called "Dell Desktop PC" and the seller was a domestic company called "Wajun PC". This company buys used Dell PCs and sells them on Amazon under the name "Dell Desktop PC 3040". The condition is listed as new and "refurbished". The price was 30,000 yen.
I have been using it since August 7th of this year, and it has been working without any problems. I have installed the software I used up until now, Just's Homepage Builder, email software, photo software, etc. on this PC and am using them. In my free time, I play games. The only games I play are the solitaire card game "FreeCell" and the mahjong game "Shanghai." I previously purchased Shanghai on CD and installed it on this PC. My previous PC was slow, but this new PC is fast and comfortable. This alone is worth the 30,000 yen, so I am very happy.
I had hpb2000, a CD version of the Home Page Builder (hpb) software from JUST, so I put it in my new PC and tried using it. This software is hard to use. I searched online and found that the "hpb22 trial version" could be used for free for 30 days, so I downloaded it and tried using it. This new hpb is easy to use. If I bought the software on CD, it would cost 20,000 yen, but the downloadable version of the software costs 10,000 yen. I was thinking of buying the downloadable version.
I have a variety of software CDs. While looking through these CDs, I found that I had CDs called "hpb17" and "hpb20" at home. I immediately installed hpb20 on my PC. I copied the contents of the homepage I was writing to an SD card and installed that copy on my new PC. This hpb20 software has the same contents as the trial version hpb22. I no longer need the trial version, so I deleted it from my PC.
I had been using Thunderbird as my email software, so I installed that software on my new PC. The software is free to use, and seems to be maintained by volunteers. Occasionally, a request for donations appears on the PC, and I donated 1,500 yen a few years ago. I am thinking of donating again in a while.
As for photo software, I use "Photo" or "Paint" that Microsoft provides as a service, or I can use Dropbox. The latter is free for 2GB. This is useful for editing photos and reducing their size. I used to use Adobe Photoshop for a fee, but I stopped using it.
