Shingles
I had shingles a few years ago. A band-shaped rash appeared on the right
side of my stomach, consisting of 2-3 mm red particles that stretched about
10 cm in length. At first, I didn't feel any pain or itchiness, and didn't
know what it was, but then I realized it was shingles. The rash didn't
get worse, so I didn't show it to the doctor and just applied Menthol to
the rash. The rash disappeared in 2-3 weeks.
Meanwhile, my wife developed shingles symptoms on April 5th of this year.
She had many rashes on her right side of her body, on her chest and on
her neck, and we decided that this was clearly shingles. According to the
internet, it is better to see a doctor within three days of the rash appearing
and receive treatment. We went to the hospital and had my wife seen by
a doctor. She was not yet in pain or itching at the time, so we told the
doctor that, and he prescribed ointments, painkillers, vitamins, etc. After
four or five days, the rash spread and spread to her head. The itching
and pain became intense, and the rash became hot. My wife could no longer
bear the pain, so we went to the hospital, showed the rash to the doctor,
and complained that the pain was severe. She also complained that she was
waking up in the middle of the night with pain and could not sleep.
The doctor prescribed a stronger antipyretic and analgesic. My wife took
this, but the slight pain came periodically and she had to endure it every
day. When we ran out of medicine, we went back to the hospital and complained
to the doctor. The doctor seemed to have diagnosed it as neuralgia caused
by shingles. She continued to take the medicine for a week, but when she
ran out of it, she took Pabron, a cold medicine, before going to bed. This
worked surprisingly well for the pain and insomnia, and even if she woke
up in the middle of the night, she was able to fall asleep again right
away, and the discomfort caused by insomnia seemed to have disappeared.
June 5th marks two months since my wife developed shingles. Some people
get over shingles in three months, while others take as long as a year.
It's been two months since her symptoms finally subsided. It is said that
one in three elderly people will suffer from this disease. She should have
had an antiviral vaccine. The doctor probably judged that her symptoms
could be cured with medicine because her initial complaints were not severe.
If the doctor had been cautious and administered an antiviral drug intravenously,
my wife might not have had to suffer from these symptoms for so long.
